Using dates in the UK
In the UK, we say the day first, then the month, then the year.
Format:
🔹 Day + Month + Year
Example:
When is your birthday?
My birthday is on the 1st of January.
What day is today?
Today is the 12th of May 2025.
Activities you like to do on your birthday
Let's speak about activities you like to do on your birthday.
What do you like to do on your birthday?
On my birthday I like to __________
Activity 3
Write your birthday in a paper and working in pairs, in turns ask and answer the question:
- When is your birthday?
Activity 2
Now, working in pairs, show the paper with your birthday, and in turns ask and answer the question:
- When is my birthday?
Activity 3
Working alone or in groups, write 10 activities you like to do on your birthday. Do not write "I like to" but only the activity.
Activity 4: Controlled practice
Firstly, let's write down our keywords and circle them.
Then, let's think about the questions.
At last, let's think about the sentences.
Practice the dialogue in pairs.
Activity 5: Roleplay (Freer activity)
As freer activity, you will complete a role play.
You meet a new friend and speak about birthdays.
Write down the 7 keywords on a paper, to be used as guidance,
Do not write any sentences or questions, as you should not read during the activity. Repeat the activity until you are happy with the outcome.
